Meeting with a group that cleans up trash

Went to the library againnn. This time to learn about a group that helps a body of water near me. I kept wondering all day if I wanted to actually go but caved and asked my grandpa to take me.

I got there a little before it started and found a book I wanted right away. It's about composting. Since I know it's kind of easy I didn't mind checking it out. I know it won't interfere much with my cooking endeavors.

It's about time for it to start. I already knew what room they do these in so I didn't have to ask, but because of that I didn't check to make sure it was happening so I was nervous and sat there reading. Then 10 minutes in they announce it's happening. I head out. I didn't take the elevator like last time because no one told me I could this time. I go out to the door down stairs where I saw people go in last time but it was locked. I go back in. I go down the elevator. I peer through the door... There is one man present (who turned out to be one of the two presenters).

I expected this lol.

We talked for a while because they decided to wait for others to show up. I talked about how I graduated from my highschool(the man went to the same one), how I wanted to translate Japanese(they knew some people that took Japanese studies), how I was taking a break to work on hobbies like drawing, studying JP, and web building(they said I could help them with a web site lol), and how I would get a job at the end of the year.

The presentation commences. I learned some obvious stuff but also other things. If you're washing a car out front your house(while obviously using non-harmful cleaning supplies), do it on the grass so that it drains in the dirt and doesn't pick up any oil or trash and wash it into the drains and pollute the water!

Also people will just leave boats because they don't know what they're getting into and it's cheaper to dump them than dispose of them properly! That really surprised me, I had to ask about it when I saw the photos. They remove of them because no one else will.

Obviously they do lots of clean ups. They cleaned up in my neighborhood apparently. There's also some island near us being built up with dredge. Apparently it has hundreds of species of birds! Unrelated to clean ups but through food drives they can get food that is wasted in groccery stores and give it to people! They also take food from places giving it out that don't have a place to store access and give it out.

The event ends early. The lady gives me a shit ton of different material reusable straws to hand out. I'm fond of the glass one. She also gave me some little pieces of paper to grow wild flowers for bees. She said I seemed curious and interested. I mentioned how I wrote a paper on stuff like that for bee's. I mentioned my interest in street engineering. She gave me a paper about dredging. She said she might take me on a trip if she has an empty seat for ?? (I forget lol). Their business card is nice.

They both were quite nice and I hope to be in contact with them again.

After that I chilled in the library. Browsed some more books. One about zero waste, an anatomy book for artists. I saw Salt fat acid heat, which I want to read. The library has a bunch of those nice coffee table books! One about Final Fantasy, one filled with story boards from Game of Thrones, etc. My mom picked me up right as they were closing and I saw her just as I was walking out. A good day.
